Rimmel Stay Matte Lipstick Review

It is always an exciting treat when I receive a free Vox Box from Influencer and given the opportunity to try and test the Rimmel Matte Lipstick. If you know me by now lipstick lip-glosses and matte lips sticks are one of my many addictions. For a very long time I was hooked on Hudda matte lipsticks which are of course the ultimate queen bee of matte lipsticks  but I couldn’t pull myself away from them because I simply hadn’t had the chance to try anything other than Hudda…but now that I was able to try and test these beauties I have discovered another unique formula that I think I will end up using till death do us part. If you are thinking or curious about how the Rimmel Stay Matte liquid lip colour applies, looks and feels then I’m here to share my thought with you.

On this occasion you should because the packaging is everything, if I’m not INSANELY IN LOVE with what I see there’s a high chance that I may not even look twice at it. Luckily Rimmel has created a minimalist package containing a dreamy product that ultimately ticks all of the boxes.  The silver detailing and large font is an instant hit, its rich colours show through the frosted plastic tube. I also love the fact that the size of the lipsticks are a little shorter than your usual lip-glosses and a little wider, I love the large black lid is functional and well designed.

I got to try out three different shades FIRSTLY “be my baby” it’s a soft pink colour with a hint of blush undertone the powder finish doesn’t allow the product to sit on the lips straight away, the shades is a nude pink perfect for lighter skin. The colour Stripped was to light for my skin tone it has a cool undertone but again its an ideal colour for fair skin it will look sensational showing up as a natural nude.

Plunge is more gothic and grungy,  it has a deep reddish brown undertone to it. I wouldn’t naturally pick up this colour but the colour applied to the lips doesn’t look too overpowering, although it’s quite dusky it definitely makes a statement. My first thoughts were Halloween but as I applied it I soon realised its actually quite functional to wear. It is a little too daring for the day time but if you don’t care about what people say you can most definitely wear it during the day like I did at the school run morning and afternoon.

Stripped and Be My Baby are nude shades they are much more opaque and leaves a streak compared to the darker shade, the formula was streaky when applying it frequently moves the existing product around. It doesn’t sit well wet and the key thing here is to let the product dry for 30 seconds before you reapplying. I was pleasantly surprised with the application of “be my baby”, which is the warm nude they all seem to be a little streaky at first but I soon realised that the colours are buildable to avoid having your natural lips colour showing through. The colour seems to intensify the more you layer it on

Much like every liquid lipstick formula I’ve tried. The formula is very velvety and light, which leaves you with that weightless feeling on the lips without drying them out. I do recommend however whenever using matte lipsticks to apply lip balm to help nourish the lips in the first instance otherwise if you apply this product with out the lipbalm you will feel uncomftable.

As predicted, the formula dries down completely matte and is very comfortable to wear and last all day. According to Rimmel London, these liquid lip colours are kiss-proof, touch-proof and water-proof. They’re supposed to be long-lasting wear and light-weight on the lips. I can honestly say that the lipsticks are light-weight on the lip and is waterproof, kiss proof. Even though you can wear it all day the formula does not crumble the lip colour last well over a 5-hour test, with only the inside areas of my mouth wearing away due to eating and sipping on drinks. The rest of my lips weren’t cracking or peeling off, and it still felt extremely comfortable and hadn’t dried out my lips at all.

All of the nude/pink shades were dreams to apply, and if you fancy the pants off any of these shades I definitely suggest picking them or any similar shades up. I’m definitely falling for “Be My Baby” which I think may become my new nude go-to for the summer. Such great value for money and a beautiful product all round modest fresh and a darling of a lip colour. So if you’re looking for a new lipstick love? Take a chance on the Stay Matte Liquid Lipsticks!

Have you tried this formula yet? What do you guys think? What shades do you have your eye on?
