If you are just starting to build your makeup collection or are an established makeup user and tired of buying products that don’t make a difference to your look then maybe I have what you need. These products listed below are the most worthy of makeup products of 2018 that you can’t be without. I have shortlisted the most needed products that you will return to again and agian. I am the biggest makeup junkie who has tried and tested products and found what is worthy of your make up bag.
So let’s get started with the essentials.
NARS CREAMY CONCEALER
Everyone needs a concealer. Choose a creamy formula that can hide under-eye circles and cover blemishes. Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer is great for everyday wear because of its light and creamy texture with a luminous finish, it allows you to build the coverage so there’s no need to buy an additional concealer for the party nights. I wear the colour Custard, perfect for concealing and highlighting. It comes with multi-skin care benefits and it’s long wear and crease -proof. Costs £24.00. This is definitely the most worthy of concealers I have used and I have used Pro long wear concealer, Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage and Laura Mercier secret concealer all seem to dry under the eyes but Nars proved them all wrong with it’s creamy consistency.
TIPS & TRICK for those who have trouble with concealers that dry under the eyes, try and mix it with an under eye cream with your concealer. This stops your concealer drying under the eye.
HUDDA FAUX FILTER FOUNDATION
Let me start by saying the foundation that doesn’t disappoint. I’m not the type to follow trends, so when Hudda released her Faux Filter foundation I didn’t purchase it straight away, after reading the raving reviews I gave in. To my surprise the colour and quality of the foundation are superb. So flawless great coverage and a little goes a long way. You don’t need to slather the Hudda Foundation all over your face—just in places where you see uneven skin tone or discolouration. It’s better than the Lancome custom-made foundation and I thought that was outstanding. Great Price £32.00 for 35ml
PREP +PRIME HIGHLIGHTER
The Mac Light Boost pen is a yellow undertone radiance highlighter. I use this under the eyes it’s not a shimmer but oozes brightness, it’s essential if you want to brighten under the eyes and create a soft highlight. It’s a soft yellow cream pen and costs £20.00. This is perfect to travel with small and doesn’t take up to much room in your make up bag.
BECCA SHIMMERING SKIN PERFECTOR PRESSED HIGHLIGHTER
I speak very highly of Becca products, I say this, again and again, I can’t go anywhere without taking my Becca Cosmetics Highlighter with me it just finishes off my look from a dull horse to a unicorn, that’s the only way I can describe what this shimmer does to my face. The shimmer is so soft and lights the skin, it literally floats on the skin like a dream. For you girls who are the same skin tone as me, I highly recommend you have this safely hidden in your makeup bag. It’s a serious game changer. It’s £32.00 but its worth every penny CHAMPAYNE POP is what I use. I have looked for alternatives such as Nars and Deliah Pure Light Illuminating Powder but have never found a replacement because there is nothing that compares to Becca Champagne Pop.
LAURA MERCIER’S BRONZER
Every girl needs a universal bronzing powder, that’s lightweight and natural-looking colour. With a weightless feel, this pressed powder gives skin a glow without drying over time. I have a yellow undertone so this just gives me that sun-kissed looked but if I want to go heavy on the contouring I just go heavy with the product and use a denser brush to contour with, this cost £30.00 and well worth it too.
DOLCE & GABBANA BLUSH
The only one I 💕 it’s perfect for adding a pop of colour, it’s a powder blush but leaves a dewy appearance, It is perfect for achieving that healthy glow every one looking for, its definitely buildable and the formula comes in every skin tone and gives that just pinched look. The Dolce & Gabbana Blush in colour blush is £30.00.
GUERLAIN LA PETITE ROBE NOIRE MASCARA
Okay, I must admit when I first used this mascara I didn’t have a clue on how to use it, to make things worse I actually googled how to use it (crazy I know) the round brush at the end means that it dresses up every lash individually giving it volume, length, curl and definition with a natural result. If you are looking for the spider look mascara this is definitely not what you want. I shifted from the Charlotte Tilbury mascara because I felt it was very clumpy and made the lashes stick together. The mascara retails for £19.50 which is quite average for a high-end product. I did try the Maxi lash So Mascara but felt like the La Petite Robe really made my lashes look as if they had a lift effect to them. Alternatively, the closest match I found to the La Petite Robe was the Mascara from Bourjois the Push-up Volume Glamour it may not have the funny wand but it most definitely creates the same effect, you can see this on my post on How to wear Bourjois’ metallic lip creams.
LIQUID MATTE LIPSTICK
Liquid matte lipsticks are lightweight and transfer free so can’t ask for more……yes they not hydrating to the lips but a little lip balm before applying the lipstick can fix that, the lip colour definitely intensifies as it sets to a matte finish. The colour I choose was Trendsetter, Iconic and Trophywife …………£18.00 is not bad considering “Too Faced” matte lipstick cost £19.00
KAT VON D – TATTOO LIQUID EYE-LINER
This bad boy has received awards so you know you are getting the best of the best, again working through a host of eyeliners all from different brands this sticks out like a sore thumb. Firstly its the colour that stands out, your thinking well its black YES it’s black but it’s the black of blacks and it has really good staying power due to its inky pigment. The tip is so thin which allows you to get that precise application to create both a dramatic thick line and an elegant thin line. The brush tip does not fray, I have had this for a little while and the tip oozes fluid and has not dried up since I bought it 5 months ago. The comparison to this is the Dior Show Art Pen but that lasted a few weeks until it dried up. This is a very highly pigmented and waterproof product. I suggest that you do not look elsewhere this is the only eyeliner you will need in your makeup bag I promise. The damage to your wallet is only £16.00 for the Tattoo Liquid Eye Liner.
