I was a firm believer that high end brands were the way to go because the cost overruled the ingredients used and the packaging. I must admit I am a sucker for awesome packaging and I do confess that’s what gets me so ecstatic to purchase the products in the first place. I was so convinced that expensive brands were the best hence the reason why I’d never considered purchasing anything other than high end brands.
Now since my bank balance is shrinking and it doesn’t allow me to splurge as much as before I decided to test this theory out.
“I am a sucker for awesome packaging”
The culprits were Kevyn Aucoin’s The Sculpting Powder and the Chanel Le Crayon Khol.
To the left is the Kevyn Aucoin’s The Sculpting Powder. It showed up a little darker because the pigments were slightly stronger and the Sleek Suede Effect Pressed Powder appeared slightly lighter, this didn’t matter much because the matte powder created the illusion of shadows without looking chalky (or orange!). I used the color Deep since my skin tone is an olive complexion and the intensity of the effect can be built up.
“The brushes you use can make a huge difference to the application”
It is virtually impossible to overdo it. Sometimes the brushes you use can make a huge difference to the application; a dense brush will pick up way so much more product where as a fluffy Charlotte Tilbury Contour Brush has a perfect tip so the application is way much precise.
So in conclusion Kevyn Aucoin’s The Sculpting Powder cost £35 and Sleek Suede Effect Pressed Powder was only wait for it…..£6.99
It is really a pressed powder and foundation in one. This is a natural matte finish which is easy to blend. The Kevyn Aucoin’s The Sculpting Powder costs so much more and and the results are the same.
So in short terms the cheaper alternative is better, doesn’t break the bank and no one would no the difference but your bank balance.
“I love interpreting products into my way”.
The one product I wish I hadn’t purchased was the Le Crayon Khol from Chanel its gorgeous and creamy. Perfect for the bright eye look. Now the Nyx the Wonder Pencil oooo so much more better the colour is intense and last longer than the Le Crayon Khol this was disappointing just because the colour wasn’t strong enough.
The Le Crayon Khol would have suited someone with a lighter skin tone to me.
Hope you enjoyed reading my post as much as I enjoyed writing it.
